The Honeywell S8701A1122 is a Direct Spark Ignition (DSI) module engineered to deliver dependable ignition sequencing and safety lockout control for gas-fired heating appliances. Designed for use in residential and light commercial furnaces and heating systems, this module monitors the ignition trial and initiates a 21-second lockout if flame is not established within the trial period — protecting equipment and occupants from unsafe operating conditions.

How It Works

On a call for heat, the S8701A1122 energizes the igniter and gas valve simultaneously. The module continuously monitors the flame sensor signal during the trial-for-ignition period. If flame is not detected within 21 seconds, the module locks out, de-energizes the gas valve, and requires a manual reset or power interruption to restart — preventing unburned gas accumulation.
